Have you ever sat outside alone with someone else? Just the two of you with no other person in earshot. Maybe you were watching the stars. Or maybe listening to traffic. Maybe it was on a beach. Or the patio fire at the back of the restaurant. Then one of you shared a thought. And it opened up an unguarded conversation. And that conversation turned deep and meaningful and moved something deep within you.
What is it that makes us intimately connected and interested with another person?
Every now and then when I’m on a trip, a party, or gathering, I stumble upon this intimate window where I share a thought, sentiment, or story with someone. And nothing exist but the two of us and that single anecdote. And it doesn’t matter whose anecdote it is, whether it’s mine or theirs; or whether we’ve been friends for years or just met minutes beforehand. An instant connection happens that’s moving and unexplainable in that window of time.
This project is an investigation of that magical moment and what prompts it. Is it the right environment? The right question? The right state of mind? Or perhaps the accidental merging of these things?
